Sponsors pull out of native youth cricket tourneys

THE Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) has misplaced sponsorship of all its youth tournaments.
Board president Azim Bassarath mentioned on April 17 that the backlash from an ongoing administrative dispute with former TTCB treasurer Kiswah Chaitoo and a police investigation into one other ex-employee had hampered traders.
Requested if these current points had any influence on the board’s relationship with sponsors, Bassarath mentioned they’ve been “severely affected.”
“Now we have misplaced all our sponsors for our youth tournaments. Solely to say that on that matter. There’s the matter with not solely the treasurer, but in addition the previous worker who would have dedicated an act which can also be earlier than the police. But it surely has severely affected the board’s funds,” he mentioned on the Nationwide Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, on April 17.
The lack of sponsorship stems from Chaitoo’s December 2023 revelation to the board on his findings of the misuse of roughly $500,000 over a five-year interval. A TTCB worker has since resigned.
