Elizabeth Alexander
President, Mellon Basis
Elizabeth Alexander – embellished poet, educator, memoirist, scholar, and cultural advocate – is president of the Mellon Basis, the nation’s largest funder in arts and tradition, and humanities in greater schooling. Dr. Alexander has held distinguished professorships at Smith School, Columbia College, and Yale College, the place she taught for 15 years and chaired the African American Research Division. She is Chancellor Emeritus of the Academy of American Poets, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, serves on the Pulitzer Prize Board, and co-designed the Artwork for Justice Fund. Notably, Dr. Alexander composed and delivered “Reward Tune for the Day” for the 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama, and is creator or co-author of fifteen books. Her ebook of poems, American Chic, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry in 2006, and her memoir, The Gentle of the World, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Biography in 2015. Her newest ebook, launched in 2022, is The Trayvon Era.

Alana Casanova-Burgess
Host & Producer, La Brega: Tales Of The Puerto Rican Expertise
Alana Casanova-Burgess is host and producer of the critically acclaimed podcast, La Brega: Tales of the Puerto Rican Expertise. She was beforehand a reporter and producer for the Peabody award-winning nationwide public radio present On the Media from WNYC Studios, and for The Brian Lehrer Present. She has been producing audio journalism for the previous decade, and her work has additionally been featured in The Guardian, 99% Invisible, Throughline, The New Yorker Radio Hour, Latino USA, and elsewhere. In 2021, she was a part of a group that received the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia College Award for Blindspot: Tulsa Burning. In 2018, she was a Livingston Awards finalist for her reporting from the island after Hurricane Maria. She has roots within the Caribbean, Brooklyn, and on the Craig Newmark Graduate Faculty of Journalism at CUNY.

Dr. Yarimar Bonilla
Director, Middle For Puerto Rican Research, Hunter School
Dr. Yarimar Bonilla, PhD is the director of the Middle for Puerto Rican Research at Hunter School, and a professor within the Division of Africana, Puerto Rican and Latino Research at Hunter School in addition to within the PhD Program in Anthropology on the Graduate Middle of the Metropolis College of New York.
Dr. Bonilla is a outstanding public mental and a number one voice on Caribbean and Latinx politics. She is an everyday contributor to publications corresponding to El Nuevo Dia, The New York Occasions, The Nation, and The Washington Put up, and is a frequent visitor on Nationwide Public Radio and information packages corresponding to Democracy Now!
Dr. Bonilla is the creator of Non-Sovereign Futures: French Caribbean Politics within the Wake of Disenchantment (College of Chicago Press, 2012) and co-editor of Aftershocks of Catastrophe: Puerto Rico Earlier than and After the Storm (Haymarket Press, 2019). Her present ebook challenge, Shattered Futures, for which she was named a 2018-20 Carnegie Fellow, focuses on the political and social affect of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Daniel Lind-Ramos
Sculptor & Painter
Daniel Lind-Ramos is a sculptor and painter reworking on a regular basis objects into sculptural assemblages that embody the social historical past, non secular rituals, and constructed and pure environments of his Afro-Puerto Rican neighborhood. Born and raised within the metropolis of Loíza, the middle of Puerto Rico’s wealthy, African cultural traditions, he constructs his large-scale sculptures out of supplies that activate the collective recollections of a spot and its individuals.
Lind-Ramos obtained a BA (1975) from the College of Puerto Rico and an MA (1980) from New York College. He’s a retired senior professor from the College of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at such venues because the Whitney Museum of American Artwork; The Drawing Middle in New York; Nationwide Gallery in Washington, DC; Sarasota Artwork Museum; Marlborough Gallery; Cornell Fantastic Arts Museum (now generally known as the Rollins Artwork Museum) in Orlando, FL; Haus der Kunst, Munich; Artwork Middle Z33 Hasselt, in Belgium; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico; Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico; and the Grand Palais in Paris.
Lind-Ramos has obtained the MacArthur Basis’s Genius Fellowship Award 2021, USA Artist Fellowship Award 2021, Artsy Vanguard 2020, AFRICA’SOUT! – Joan Mitchell Middle residency, and a Joan Mitchell Basis award.
