We’re blissful to announce the fifteenth version of The Calabash Worldwide Literary Competition—“For Phrase”—which takes place on Could 26-28, at Treasure Seashore, Jamaica. The Calabash Worldwide Literary Competition was based in 2001 by three Jamaicans the novelist Colin Channer, the poet Kwame Dawes and the producer Justine Henzell. Their purpose was easy—to create a world-class literary pageant with roots in Jamaica and branches reaching out into the broader world.
A 3-day pageant of readings and music with different types of storytelling folded within the combine, Calabash is earthy, inspirational, daring and numerous. After 10 successive years, 2001-2010, Calabash was then staged on a biennial foundation on even years, till 2018. The 2020 & 2022 festivals have been cancelled as a result of COVID-19 pandemic so the pageant returns in 2023 for its fifteenth staging.
All pageant occasions are free and open to the general public. Ardour is the one value of entry. However voluntary contributions are welcomed.
The pageant is produced by the Calabash Worldwide Literary Competition Belief (the Belief), which additionally produces publishing seminars and writing workshops. The Belief is affiliated with the Buddies of the Calabash Worldwide Literary Competition, a registered 501(c)(3) company in the USA.
